How the desk began

A year before the company was registered, Niran Sutham rented a room off Silom for an evening circle. He had spent twelve years marking weekly and monthly cycles for a commodity desk in Bangkok, and a handful of readers were tired of shouting matches about the next move. They wanted the troughs written down where everyone could see them. In 2016 that circle became Ponder Latticepoint Academy Co., Ltd., took the present name, and settled at 89/1 Silom Rd, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500. The room changed address once. The method did not grow a second subject.

Elise Marlow joined in 2019. She had been editing a small English-language market letter in Chiang Mai, the kind that still had to be printed because the readers kept the back issues in a drawer. She came to Silom to teach the journal: four lines, written before the open, closed before memory could edit them.

How we work

A count is a description of swings already on the sheet. It is checked against the next bar, not against the mood of the room. One market at a time in the intensive. English in the room, so a reader from Bang Rak and a reader passing through share one notation. Attendance can be confirmed in writing if a participant asks. We do not issue a decorated diploma for six Thursdays.

Orders stay outside the academy. The sitting ends when the cancellation mark is written. What anyone does with a position afterward is their own affair, and the affair of any adviser they choose apart from us.

The city around the room

Bang Rak is a practical place to keep this desk. The SET is a short ride away, gold is a conversation people already know how to start, and the morning room can finish before most offices fill. We teach readers who live with those markets, not a touring version of someone else’s exchange.
